Happy Easter

We are going to our friends Sibby and Shelley's today for their annual Easter party. I bought this cute as a buttom vintage crazy eyed bunny planter to give them as a hostess' gift. I LOVE him....it was hard to give him up.

Aside from the great April Fools joke that was played on my fellow classmates at Texas State University many years ago stating that Blue's Traveler was playing an unexpected show that evening and to show up at the collesium later that night to see them, this one if fantastic.

I LOVE Austin!!!!

Yesterday was a really productive day..personally. It was a great day...a great Saturday...I haven't had one like that in a while.
We started our day off with coffee from Austin Java and met Tina over at Flip Happy Crepes for breakfast. OMG...it was so good. the lemon crepes were amazing, and they are served from a vintage travel trailer...hello...if that isn't me i don't know what is. Actually they are hiring and I might see if I can work there one day a week to save up for my trip to Italy next year. After that, we went to the Zilker Garden Festival for some fun...the weather was to die for...just perfect. We proceeded to go to Home Depot to get flooring samples, then Lowe's to buy a ceiling fan for the bedroom & paint for the hallway and bedrooms. Home improvement, here we come. I actually talked Jean into driving to Gruene, TX for a cold Lone Star beer because it was a perfect spring day and Lee & John were there..so we went to Gruene Hall and then drove all the way over to the Salt Lick for some BBQ. We were miserable after the family style pig out, and drove home to wallow. It was a great day!!!

Meetings

Ah...I met with Carrie Elkin this morning to talk about her album cover and stuff. We are both so excited about her project of a new CD. And my painting is going to be all over since she'll be using it basically for all of her branding!! WooHoo. Good luck in the studio today Carrie and thanks so much!!!

SXSW

Today marked the end of Bella Blue's SXSF (south by south first). For the past 5 days, we have hosted over 30 bands from Portland, OR to Scotland in our backyard during SXSW. We were featured on the local news (and apparently were on the news in Dallas as well), the newspaper and the Austin Chronicle for hosting our free day parties. I am tired, however not as exhausted as I expected. I spent the last 3 months booking bands, organizing press releases, designing newsletters, myspace, posters, etc., having a stage built, painting 2 of the rooms in the store, decorating for SXSF, finding sponsors, ETC...and it's fin.

One of my personal highlights is that Carrie Elkin of Boston, MA asked to use one of my new paintings as her new ablum cover art. SOOOO cool. We are going to chat about it in the next day or so, then I'll have more to report. This is the piece she wants to use!

Guts

I started (finally) gutting my trailer this week. There is something very empowering about deconstruction, I must say.
